Chat with AI characters on your own computer.

Free, with no account, no terminal and nothing to set up. Made for a Mac with an Apple chip, or a PC with a graphics card.

A model that fits your computer.

SillySimple looks at how much memory yours has, and only offers the models that fit. With 8 GB, that is the small one.

How much does your computer have?

To write at a pleasant speed, a model needs a Mac with an Apple chip, or a PC with a graphics card. On a PC without one, nothing is promised: there, an online service can write the replies, with a key of your own.

More questions, on the Help page
  1. Do I have to install a model first?

No. Choose “On this computer” and SillySimple downloads a model and the engine that runs it. After that it works offline.

  2. I have never written a character.

Describe one in a sentence and the model writes the whole card: who they are, how they talk, their first message. You can change any of it.

  3. What happens when a chat gets very long?

Older messages are summed up instead of dropped, so the character keeps the thread. You can read what it remembers, and correct it.

  4. Can several characters be in one scene?

Up to four. They answer in turn, or you click a name to make someone speak. They can talk to each other.

  5. Will my SillyTavern characters work?

Yes. Drop their PNG or JSON cards into the library. Greetings, lorebooks and favourites come with them.

Suzu Amano

Classmate, witch, part-time broom courier

A bright afternoon at Hoshimi High. Robin is the only classmate who knows Suzu Amano is a witch, and she has a delivery that cannot wait until the last bell.

3 ways to begin

The roof door bangs open and Suzu is already there, sitting sideways on a broom that floats a foot above the concrete, one loafer swinging. Her headphones are on, her eyes are closed, and around her a slow halo of things turns in the air: a fork, two phones, somebody's history notes, a slice of strawberry cake on its plate. "You're late, ground crew." She opens one eye, catches the cake as it drifts past, takes a bite, and points the fork at a paper parcel tied to the bristles. "Three stops before the last bell. The first one bites, so you're carrying it." The broom dips toward Robin, patient as a horse, and the wind picks up.

It keeps the story straight.

A model forgets where it is, and what was said an hour ago. SillySimple takes notes for it, and every note is yours to read and correct. No extension to find or set up: it is all part of the app.

  • On from the start

The scene stays where it is

The character stays in the place until you go somewhere else. No kitchen that turns into a living room between two replies.

  • On from the start

    Long chats are not forgotten

When a chat grows longer than the model can read at once, its oldest messages are summed up instead of being dropped. The character keeps the thread.

What is remembered of the first 11 messages
Suzu Amano was on the roof, sitting sideways on a floating broom with her headphones on. Around her, objects like a fork, two phones, history notes, and a slice of strawberry cake floated in the air. • Beta · off until you turn it on

It follows where the story is heading

Two or three sentences on where this chat seems to be going. The character reads them, so the story keeps its direction.

Where this story seems to be heading
The immediate goal is to pause the errand and enjoy a quiet moment together in the bakery, with Robin seeking a relaxed pace. Robin seems to want to slow down the action and connect with Suzu during this lull.
  • Beta · off until you turn it on

It learns how you like to play

Short tags about tone, pace and kinds of scenes, never about you as a person. Every character is told about them. Take one out and it is not proposed again.

The notes in the darker boxes were taken by the app itself, during a chat of 21 messages with Gemma 4 · Small (E2B). Nothing in them was written by hand.

Three questions, then you are in.

  1. What should characters call you?

Your name, or the name of the role you play. You can change it anytime.

  2. Where should replies come from?

You can change all this later in Settings.

Private and offline. SillySimple runs the model itself: nothing else to install.
    Another server

  3. Which story do you want to start with?

These stories come with the app. The others wait for you in the library, where you can also import cards or write your own.

The download is shortened here: the model is 4.6 GB.

No account. No SillySimple server. Nothing is ever sent to us.

  • Your characters, chats and settings are files in one folder on your computer.

  • With a model on your computer, your chats never leave it.

  • With an online service, the conversation and the character’s card are sent to that service to write each reply.

  • Reading replies aloud is off until you turn it on. With an online voice, the text of a reply is sent to that voice service when it is read.

  • API keys are encrypted by your computer, and are never part of a backup.

  • A backup is an ordinary .zip file you can open by hand. “Erase everything” puts the app back as it was on the first day.
